This 1974 Ford Escort RS2000 MkI is being presented as a garage find for restoration, having been in storage since 1997. It is a genuine car with the correct AVO strengthening components in place and a Type 49 shell. It was built in June 1974 at the AVO Aveley factory as an Olympic Blue example, a colour it still retains. It also has its original factory-fitted Pinto engine and is thus a matching numbers example. The date of registration was August 1974. The interior features the Black Beta cloth RS recliners and roll-top headrests, as fitted when new. The odometer shows 16,811 miles and the engine turns over freely. This actual RS2000 was featured in CAR magazine group road test from November 1974. A photocopy is provided amongst the paperwork.

Paperwork includes the V5C and a previous V5, old MoT certificate, Haynes workshop manual, Escort MkI, II and III: The Development and Competition History book by Jeremy Walton, various magazines and a Ford video on how a car is designed and made. There's also some photos of the car prior to its garage storage and importantly, one showing the original AVO Plate and VIN Plate on the slam panel. From which, we still have the AVO plate with the paperwork but the VIN plate has been mislaid when the car was in storage.
